Gas - Accenture Sept 2008- Aug 2009
Terasen Gas is the largest Natural Gas provider in British Columbia. The project
aimed to upgrade the existing version of Peace application and provide day
to day maintenance and improvement to the existing software. This has contributed
to improve the quality of Customer services delivered.
Responsibility:
• Interviewed end users in case of change or enhancement request, documented business requirements and created business case.
• Defined purpose, scope and integration requirements of proposed system; prepared detailed specification and project plans; and documented the same.
• Designed business processes and/or business system alternatives; prepared reports and provided recommendations on the technical, operational and economic levels.
• Prepared detailed estimates for time and cost required for the project.
• Defined solutions and communicated to offshore team for the adequate development.
• Created test strategy, test scenarios and test plans to ensure that the development is up to the client expectations and comply with quality products.
• Analyzed existing process failures, gaps, and issues, proposed improvements, identified training requirements and implemented solutions.
Major Achievements:
• Without any knowledge transfer from the previous business analyst or management, I quickly developed into the role and became a key member in the team. Accenture gave me the �Analyzes and Solves Poorly Defined Problems award� for my work.
• Part of a team that turned a source of increasing penalties into a source of profit, company saved CAD$100,000s. We did this by prioritizing change requests and bugs, discussed possible options with developers; we provided interim and/or long term solutions. We were collectively awarded by Accenture with the �Maximizes Team�s Performance Award�.
TELUS
- Accenture Sept 2006- Aug 2008
TELUS is the Second largest telecommunication provider in Canada. The project
aimed to migrate the existing Legacy Systems to new system. This contributed
to Client strategy for growth and retention by creating competitive customer
service capabilities while improving operational efficiencies through increased
automation and more streamlined Sales through billing processes.
Responsibility:
• Carried out the data analysis, confronted that converted data is compatible with the application as per business requirements, identified gaps and raised defects.
• Prepared QA requirements to be followed by the team and carry out the planning and prioritization of the team resources in order to meet the deliverables and service level agreement.
• Developed SQL scripts that focused to include all the primary validations to be carried out on the application and across the databases.
• Involved in preparing the documents that provides the detailed database tables used in Billing and Order Management system.
Major Achievements:
• Received Accenture�s �Drives to Add Value Award�. I analyzed the database�s schema and wrote detailed reengineering documentation on its structure and how to use it to do root cause analysis of defects in converted data. This documentation was used by the team for data verification and contributed to increasing our team�s data verification productivity by 30%.
• Recognized by Accenture with the �Building and Applying Skills and Capabilities Award� for training new teammates and bringing their productivity on par with the rest of the team within a week. This result was achieved by evaluating training requirements, writing course material including examples and exercises and providing the training to the new team members.
• Accepted and succeeded at a challenge to foster camaraderie and build cohesion between two teams that were brought together for the same project. I organized an evening of activities designed to break the ice and help people drop their guard. The result was a marked improvement in trust and openness in communication between the teams for the rest of the project. I received Accenture�s award for �Maximizes Team�s Performance�.

•Taught a Java course. Due to strong recommendations from students I was requested to teach another Java course the following year.

Radio Television Nacional de Colombia April 2005 -
Jan. 2006
A government sponsored firm that provided services covering geographical area
of Colombia in South America. The project aimed to migrate the entire system
from manual handling to end to end system solution. Thus focus was to build
the IT department on which the end to end work lineage resided on. This has
helped company to have fast, accurate and protected data, avoiding frauds and
well resource management.
Responsibility:
•Interviewed end users, gathered and analyzed each department�s requirements.
•Researched the market for solutions, proposed multiple solutions, conducted cross departmental meetings to choose the best possible option.
•Involved in the entire Software Development Life Cycle, actively participated in the parameterization of the ERP and payroll systems as per end users needs.
•Defined test plans, confronted that system is working as per end user requirements.
•Designed roll out plan to put the new system in production and coordinated implementation activities.
Major Achievement:
•Most of the company was run by manual operations. With the new system which I introduced and implemented within 10 months, all departments became integrated and operations that previously took weeks or months were now instant. The most appreciated benefit was the dramatic reduction in the chances for fraud.
Minipak, Colombia July 2003 - Feb. 2005
Well known for Wrapper Manufacturing firm spread over the American geography
and active Wrapper exporter to Canada. The project integrated the process and
the applications, providing the end to end support and maintenance of the application.
Responsibility:
•Analyzed client requirements and proposed the custom modification to the existing client application for companies� ERP system.
•Developed innovative solution for accounts payable systems using plain text files for bank transfers. The model implemented helped company in accurate payment billing which is an incredible achievement and saved over CND 100,000 per year in cheques. This saving followed continuous year after year that stood remarkable.
•Identified, communicated and resolved technical problems for production software, inventory management, which helped company to get accurate data in time.
Hi Tech Training, Colombia Sept. 2001 - May 2003
Franchise of Penta Soft, India. This programme launched by Colombian government
to increase the IT Professional Mass in the country.
Responsibility:
•Conducted the workshop for the Technology students and teachers in SQL Server, Java, J2EE, Visual Basic, C, C++, Access, RDBMS, Analysis and Design.
•Prepared the Course Structure and Content facilitating the students and the other staff.
Major Achievement:
•Transformed two classes of protesting students who wanted to drop out from Hi-Tech Training into motivated graduates of their web development program. I did this by rewriting their material to be accurate and relevant and making the effort to give each student importance by giving them individual attention. The result was that inexperienced students were better able to keep pace and advanced students remained engaged. The benefit to Hi-Tech Training was that they were able to retain these students who were 40% of their business in web development training.
• Sent by Hi-Tech Training to get other instructors at another centre up-to-speed in Java and in my training techniques to save their business there.
Alcanos de Colombia Sept. 1999 - Sept. 2001
Natural Gas Company whose services are spread over three provinces of the country.
The program was concentrated to provide a continuous support, maintenance and
developing the reports that helped to execute their business.
Responsibility:
•Gathered user requirements, analysed and proposed the custom modification and development.
•Removed the existing manual process, thus automating the process and methodology.
•Developed and implement applications on Informix and UNIX for Billing & Payment.
Major Achievement:
•Organized integration between accounts database and billing database, which helped company to overcome inconsistency of CND 700,000 between two systems and to recuperate CND 230,000, that are not part of charges incurred to customers.

Chicken, eggs and animal food manufacturing company. The project aimed to migrate
the entire system from manual handling to end to end system solution.
Responsibility:
• Designed, Developed and implemented application for inventory & billing.
• Implemented and handled the production control system with getting rid
of manual systems.
• Developed and Implemented data conversion for inventory and accounts
application.
